Welcome to Wild Wings Rescue

Thank you for your kindness in caring about our feathered and furred friends.  Our site serves song birds and educates their rescuers nationally, especially those in the Memphis area where there is little to no available help. We are proud to offer expert help and advice to those who are kind enough to step forward and give wildlife an opportunity to thrive in our busy world.  Our approach always protects the wild integrity of each animal - every efforts goes into protecting, advocating and placing each rescued bird back into their natural habitat with their natural families.  Read on for quick help, and click the menu box above to navigate straight to solutions for your situation.

Not All Birds Need Help

  • Re-Nest; stick him right back in his nest.

  • YES, YES YOU CAN TOUCH A BABY BIRD, and the mom will be *grateful* to get it back - she can't pick it up when it falls out of nest.

  • Fluffy or hopping birds are just waiting for their parents

  • Don't take home unless you've read to do so here...

  • Text a picture, stay put, keep bird out of danger and quiet and be patient - we will help you.  In the meantime, go to the pertinent page for your situation and maintain the bird in the proper way as to do no harm and give it a second chance for survival.

Pardon Our Progress

We are re-modeling the wildwingsrescue site - some pages aren't complete yet - we will have plenty of information and reference photos to help you determine what type of bird you have and what to feed it when necessary -we appreciate your patience.

Cute  baby bird in your yard

One baby bird in every nest is the last to hatch and the last to fly.  When it's time to flap and leap to a nearby limb (as shown), they go d o w n.  Parents freak but they can't get it back up from the ground. This is when you or your pet find them.  Keep in mind, parents still feed them - so they don't need to come inside unless it's getting dark.. they may need to be re-nested or kept safely so parents can feed and protect them for a couple more days. Read to see what to do for these birds and other birds that need your help..
